Taking part in one of Adelaide’s biggest fashion markets was a huge success for Elcies Op Shops last month, with our boutique stall receiving high praise from young, savvy shoppers at the Fashion Thrift Society event.
Held at St Clair Recreation Centre on March 24, Elcies’ selection of vintage clothing proved popular with a mostly teenage crowd, with proceeds of sales going towards Lutheran Care’s Emergency Relief program.
More than $3500 was made at the event and these funds will help us support families and individuals currently experiencing crisis and disadvantage with essential items such as pantry food items, hygiene products, clothing, and access to wraparound services like financial wellbeing and personal counselling.
Lutheran Care’s Chief Operations Officer Percy Henry was present on the day and said customers praised Elcies as “the best stall at the event”.
“The teamwork from our staff across operations, sorting facility and our Op Shops was such a coordinated and wonderful effort to see. From the planning, executing and representing our stores and business on the day was nothing short of spectacular,” Mr Henry said.
“The revenue is indeed something we celebrate every day in our stores, because we know it goes directly to support people who need it the most, and that demand is growing each month. We are always on the look out for quality donated goods.
“Along with the knowledge that with every purchase you can help a family in need, what I heard is that people loved shopping with us because our friendly team and volunteers make it a fun experience. To see that in action on the day and new customers discovering the quality goods we offer as well as what we do, was simply gold.”
With an impressive average event attendance of 10,000 people per weekend and a reputation for offering the finest selection of vintage fashion under one roof, Fashion Thrift Society has firmly established itself as Australia’s best and biggest second-hand clothing event.
It has enjoyed remarkable success in capital cities across Australia, captivating audiences who love thrifting.
Fashion Thrift Society events host an array of independent stalls that stock carefully curated vintage and pre-loved clothing, along with renowned local brands showcasing their apparel. Independent artists can also display their artwork and handmade items, while its installation bar hosts services such as henna, tattoos and permanent jewellery.
Our Elcies stores are located on the popular shopping strip of The Parade, Norwood, in the coastal hub of Semaphore and at Tanunda in the beautiful Barossa Valley. The shops have earned a reputation for quality brands and second-to-none service.
Following this year’s success, we hope to participate in another Fashion Thrift Society event in the future. Make sure you follow us at @elciesopshops to keep up to date with the latest Elcies news!
