Last month, our teams took changing lives and building communities to the next level, connecting with hundreds of members of the public at some major expos and events.
We were very excited to be part of the Festival of Now mental health and wellbeing event on 14 October, KYD-X (Kids & Youth Disability Expo) on 15 October, and the Disability, Ageing and Lifestyle Expo on 28-29 October.
Lutheran Care at Festival of Now
It was the first time Lutheran Care has participated in the Festival of Now, and it was even more special to be involved as a sponsor and stallholder because the event this year celebrates 10 years.
Despite a very rainy start, the event attracted a good crowd to Wauwi/Light Square. More than 60 visitors enquired about Lutheran Care services including homelessness services, Emergency Relief and Counselling, and a few of our current and former clients also popped by the stall to say hi, which was fantastic.
Leading a craft activity for visitors on the day was Zahni from our Elcies Disability Care Positive Behaviour Support team and Jose from Marketing/Communications, who were delighted to help 27 people learn how to make their own Macramé keyrings.
Elcies Disability Care is Lutheran Care’s registered NDIS service.
Elcies Disability Care team meets families at KYD-X
Meanwhile, at KYD-X, which was held at Priceline Stadium, Mile End, more than 400 people visited the Lutheran Care/Elcies Disability Care stand to greet the team, participate in the activities including giant noughts and crosses, and take away free goodies such as slapbands and sensory toys.
We had some excellent interest with several families completing an enquiry form for Positive Behaviour Support, Elcies Disability Care’s flagship service, and more than 180 people going away with information to consider.
Our Elcies Disability Care Principal Clinical lead Bianca was interviewed in a live cross on the day which was streamed on the main stage television.
Disability, Ageing and Lifestyle Expo
The seventh annual Disability, Ageing and Lifestyle Expo was held at the Jubilee Pavilion at Adelaide Showgrounds and Lutheran Care was proud to be one of more than 230 exhibitors and organisations involved.
Lutheran Care’s Elcies Disability Care and Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) services shared a stall at the event, and staff and volunteers from both services spoke with more than 110 expo attendees across the two days.
The Expo aims to give individuals, families and carers an understanding and awareness of the services and products available to live independently, with choices and to connect and inform the community more broadly.
As well as connecting with the public, Lutheran Care staff and volunteers enjoyed meeting and speaking with other service providers at the event. Another excellent networking opportunity was the Exhibitors’ Networking Breakfast which CVS Team Leader, Sonja Williams, attended on behalf of both Lutheran Care and CVS. More than 100 delegates attended, enjoying the opportunity to hear from guest speakers Dr Gill Hicks AM MBE and Dr Fiona Kerr.
Thanks to everyone who made the effort to make themselves known to our teams at all of these events and to our fantastic staff for representing Lutheran Care so well.
