Emergency Relief provides support for low income households who are in an immediate need to overcome an unforeseen situation or crisis.
We help low income households within our local area by providing emergency relief in the form of material assistance (including food, vouchers and bedding/linen), together with community information and/or referrals to other services.
Emergency Relief is available from our Blair Athol, Barossa Valley and Alice Springs offices.
To make an appointment, either visit the Lutheran Care office in your area (metropolitan and regional service areas are listed below) or telephone at 9am for a same day appointment (contact details listed below). Please note in most situations Lutheran Care can provide assistance for households up to three times in any 12-month period and once in a Centrelink payment period. This does not automatically restart at the beginning of a calendar or financial year.
Our Emergency Relief service accepts donations of food and other goods generously provided by the community at our Blair Athol and Barossa Valley (Nurioopta) sites. We are continually in need of the following items for our Basic Food Packs.
Donations of food items will be accepted at the following Emergency Relief locations. Please consult the opening hours as these may differ between the locations.

As a way to encourage children to learn about the joy of giving and helping others at Christmas time, Lutheran Care is launching the 12 Days of Giving.
Rather like a ‘reverse’ Advent calendar, it is a 12-day challenge for children and their families. From 1-12 December, a new grocery item from this list will be revealed every day on our website and shared on social media.
We encourage families to find this item in their pantry or add it to their shopping list. Across the 12 days we will reveal canned food items, hygiene items and even a special treat . Compile the donations under your Christmas tree and every day watch the pile grow! Then, from 13 December, deliver your gifts to the Lutheran Care office for the Emergency Relief teams at either Blair Athol (307 Prospect Road) or Nuriootpa (26 Second Street)
