Lutheran Care had a significant presence at the 2024 South Australian Financial Counsellors Association (SAFCA) Conference held at Adelaide Oval on Tuesday and Wednesday, 12-13 November. The conference theme was Strong Foundations.
Lutheran Care’s entire Financial Wellbeing team attended the conference, including our Financial Counsellors and Financial Capability Workers based in the Mparntwe – Alice Springs office.
A highlight was Financial Capability Worker, Zakaria Deng, being invited to participate on a panel discussing The Power of Choice in his work in Central Australia. Zak shared how people in central Australia are impacted by the lack of choice around electricity providers, which can result in repercussions such as higher costs and energy inequity.
Zak said it was “truly an honour” to participate in the conference, which he described as, “a remarkable experience, filled with insightful sessions and opportunities to connect with professionals in the field”.
He thanked the SAFCA team for organising “such a well-rounded conference that was not only educational and informative but also inspiring,” Zak said.
“The 2024 theme, focused on building a stronger foundation, resonates deeply, and it was exciting to see this vision reflected throughout the event. I look forward to applying the knowledge gained and continuing to grow alongside this incredible community!”
In the SAFCA Awards, held annually as part of the conference, another Alice Springs-based team member, Louise Lam, was recognised as a finalist in the Notable Newcomer category: For a person in their first two years of Financial Counselling service delivery who is making a difference or showing promise.
Lutheran Care was a proud sponsor of the Inspiring Supervisor Award, which was presented by our Chief Executive Officer, Rohan Feegrade.
Lutheran Care’s leadership team congratulated Kate Fox and her team at SAFCA for their excellent work presenting the conference and awards.
