Families on low incomes will have the chance to connect with our financial counselling team over a free barbecue lunch during Lutheran Care’s Family Financial Wellbeing Community Day later this month.
Held during Anti-Poverty Week at Lutheran Care Blair Athol, the event is open to the public and designed for those who would like more information about our Financial Counselling program and other services available to low income families.
As more families look to Lutheran Care for support this year, we know it has been a difficult year for many people financially. However, it is the most vulnerable in our communities who have felt the impact of the cost of living and housing crisis the most.
Lutheran Care’s Executive Manager Community Services Susan Richards says the aim of this event is to empower individuals and families who are doing it tough with the knowledge and resources to improve their financial situation and help break the cycle of poverty.
“As Executive Manager of Community Services at Lutheran Care, I am aware of the profound impact poverty can have on individuals and families within our community,” Ms Richards says.
“I have seen an increase in our service demand exacerbated by housing shortages and the current cost of living crisis. Hosted during Anti-Poverty Week, this is a crucial reminder of the collective responsibility we have in addressing this pressing issue. Poverty isn’t just about finances; it’s about opportunities, education, health and overall wellbeing.”
A free sausage sizzle (halal options available) and drinks will be supplied at Lutheran Care’s Family Financial Wellbeing Community Day, thanks to the support of our partners Northpoint Toyota. The event will be held at Lutheran Care Blair Athol (309 Prospect Road) from 11.30am to 1pm, on Thursday, October 19.
“To support our community in achieving financial stability and wellbeing, we invite you to join us at our family financial wellbeing event,” Ms Richards says.
“Together we can make a meaningful difference. We look forward to your presence and active participation.”
