Foster Care Case Workers

Current programs include emergency relief, financial counselling, family support and education, foster care, housing and family shelter, homelessness services, and refugee services.
Our Foster Care Service (FCS) is designed to provide family-based foster care services in the SA Metropolitan North, South, West, and East, the Adelaide Hills, the Barossa and the Murray/Mallee regions.
We have an outstanding opportunity for two Foster Care Case Workers, one based in our Kent Town office and one in our Gawler office, whose focus it is to empower our team with high-level support to ensure we deliver positive outcomes for our foster carers and children in care. In this role, you will provide assessment, training, support and advocacy for foster carers to achieve highly successful placements.
While these positions are office based, travel for regular home visits with foster carers and to other locations for intra and interagency meetings will be required.
In this role, your objectives will be to:
- Manage a caseload of carer households (1:18 generalist 1:7 specialist)
- Provide casework through assessment, training, support, placement and advocacy.
- Maintain regular contact through telephone, e-mail and home visits as per agency guidelines
- Assist the placement co-ordinators with the process of matching and placement of children with approved foster carers as required.
- Liaise with DCP and other members of the care team to ensure the needs of children in care are met.
- Assist as necessary the LC Assessment team to conduct thorough, competency-based foster carer assessments using the Step By Step assessment tool and process, OR other nominated assessment tools and processes as required.
- Provide information to foster care applicants on training requirements and schedules.

The successful applicant will be required to undergo a NDIS Workers Screening Check, a DHS Working With Children Check, as well as a current Safe Environments for Children & Young People certificate. You must hold a current and unrestricted South Australian Drivers License and possess a registered roadworthy vehicle available for work use (employees reimbursed for work travel).
